Intel: Android Not Ready to Use Multi-Core

Many vendors are vying to start releasing Android phones with advanced dual-core processors. But according to Intel, the 'green robot' is still not ready to adopt these types of processors.

Indeed, one by one vendor on board began to market Android phones with amazing specs. Call it the HTC Galaxy One S III and X is equipped with 4 processors 'brain'. Not to mention that LG is ready to release a similar phone in Indonesia.

While Intel, which was quite impressed by the processor industry veteran in the cool and calm, not to follow its rivals for the quad core chip poured on Android phones.

"If you are concerned with performance, then the quad core processor makes sense. But if the operating system (Android) that you use a good scheduling system," said Mike Bell, General Manager of Intel's Mobile and Communications Group.

According to Bell, dual-core processors is not optimal when used for the Android. Instead use these chips will only affect the higher power consumption, as well as the effects of excessive heat on the phone.

Therefore, Intel just released a single core processor code-named Medfield for Android phones like the Lenovo K800, X900 and Xolo Lava Orange San Diego for the U.S. market.
"I have seen how the use of quad core processors on the market, and we have not seen any advantage to jump into that market," said Bell, as quoted, of ZDNet, Tuesday (12/06/2012).
Intel's statement was consistent with citations from the boss of Nokia, Stephen Elop. Finnish mobile phone manufacturer has also agreed that the dual core processor on the phone just to make wasteful batteries.
